Istlada Ancient City is the most impressive among the small cities of Lycia with its interesting tombs that remain today. After passing Yavu Village on Demre-Kaş highway, it is 4 km to the south from Davazlar Village signboard. Then, Kapakli Village is reached. Hayıtlı location, which is located just across the village elementary school, is reached by walking to the famous Hoyran Tomb, ten minutes south. The name of Istlada was read in many inscriptions of the city and shared the historical fate of the region with other neighboring cities within the Lycian Union. It is possible to download to the beginning of the 4th century. It is understood from the ruins that it settled in the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine Periods respectively after the Lycian period.
In Istla; A small brain like Apollonia, Aperlai, Phellos or Isinda looks like a small castle surrounded by walls. The walls of the city extend in the east and west direction of the acropolis. The wall ends at the east end with a door to enter the castle. There is a remnant of a building made to control the door just west of the door. The east and north of the acropolis are filled with rock tombs, sarcophagi and single block tombs in the form of steles. The vast majority of sarcophagi are in the form of a typical Lycian sarcophagus, pedestal, sarcophagus and cover. There are steles among the sarcophagi. All of them are made of limestone, which is the natural formation of the region. The rock tombs are dated to the Classical Age, and all sarcophagi are dated to the Roman Age.
